This field holds the extent of the item. It consists of the figures or letters of the numbering taken from the item — pages, columns, leaves, parts (for scores) or the corresponding details for special materials — together with the designation Seiten, Blätter, Spalten or similar. The last numbered page is the one given.

Where several numberings are present, they are separated by ",_" (comma, blank).

The designation follows the numbering, unless the numbering does not start at 1 or letters are used. In those cases the designation precedes the numbering. Where the item carries no numbering, leaves are counted for single-sided printing and pages for double-sided printing; such a count is given as "[30] Bl." or "[200] S.".

For loose-leaf editions no count is given; the note "Losebl.-Ausg." takes its place. For videos the number of cassettes, the system (for example VHS) and the running time are given. For compact discs and cassettes the number of discs or cassettes is given. For games the number of games is given. The parts actually present are listed in field 750p.
