This field holds the name of the publisher. It is given in the language and form of the item; all additions not needed to tell publishers apart are dropped.

Where the publisher's name contains a family name as the proprietor, giving that family name is sufficient.

Given names that are stated used to be preceded by "¬" (non-filing character); that is no longer recommended.

Names that have been left out are indicated by "[u.a.]".

Remarks and additions are enclosed in [ ] (square brackets).

Of several publishers, only the one set out typographically is given, otherwise only the one named first.
