The essentials first#
This site is deliberately simple. It sets no cookies, embeds no content from third-party servers and uses no analytics. Even the fonts are served from our own server — visiting these pages creates no connection to anyone else.
Personal data therefore arises only where it is technically unavoidable: in the server log files, which contain your IP address. What happens to it is described under general information collected.
Your rights#
Using the contact details above you may exercise the following rights at any time:
- access to the data we hold about you and to information about its processing (Art. 15 GDPR),
- rectification of inaccurate personal data (Art. 16 GDPR),
- erasure of the data we hold about you (Art. 17 GDPR),
- restriction of processing, where legal obligations prevent us from erasing your data (Art. 18 GDPR),
- objection to our processing of your data (Art. 21 GDPR), and
- data portability, where you have consented to the processing or entered into a contract with us (Art. 20 GDPR).
Where you have given us consent, you may withdraw it at any time with effect for the future.
You may lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority at any time, for example the authority responsible for the federal state in which you live or the one responsible for us. A list of supervisory authorities with addresses is available from the German Federal Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information (external site).
General information collected when you visit this site#
Nature and purpose of the processing: when you access this site, information of a general nature is recorded automatically (server log files). This includes the type of browser, the operating system used, the domain name of your internet service provider, your IP address and the address requested.
It is processed for the following purposes: ensuring that a connection can be established without difficulty, ensuring that the site can be used smoothly, evaluating system security and stability, and other administrative purposes. We do not use this data to draw conclusions about you personally.
Legal basis: the processing is carried out under Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR on the basis of our legitimate interest in the stability and functionality of this site.
Recipients: the recipient of the data is the technical service provider named below, which operates the server for us as a processor.
Retention: the data is deleted as soon as it is no longer required for the purpose for which it was collected.
Whether provision is required: provision is neither required by law nor by contract. Without your IP address, however, your browser cannot technically receive the pages — it is indispensable for retrieval.
Settings stored in your browser#
At the top right you can set whether the pages are shown light or dark, and on which
side the table of contents appears. If you make such a choice, it is stored in your
browser's local storage (localStorage) so that it still applies on your next visit.
Only these two values are stored. They contain no personal data, are not transmitted to our server and are not evaluated. The legal basis for storing them is section 25(2) no. 2 TDDDG, since you have expressly asked for the setting to be kept. You can delete the values at any time through your browser settings; the site works without them.
Search#
The search on this site runs entirely in your browser. The search index is loaded once from our server; your search terms never leave your computer and are not logged anywhere.
Getting in touch#
This site has no contact form. If you get in touch through the channels named in the imprint or through bibhelp (external site), the privacy notice of the service concerned applies.
Encryption#
To protect the security of your data during transmission, we use encryption corresponding to the current state of the art, over HTTPS.
Processors engaged#
A single service provider is engaged for the operation of this site:
| Processor | Address | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Jonas Pasche (Uberspace) | Kaiserstr. 15, 55116 Mainz, Germany | Provision and operation of the server |
The server is located in Germany. There are no other recipients — in particular, no data is transferred to providers outside the European Union.
Changes to this privacy notice#
We reserve the right to adapt this privacy notice so that it always meets current legal requirements, or to implement changes to our services in it. The new privacy notice will then apply to your next visit.

Please direct questions about data protection to the address given in the imprint.
